Football is one of the most celebrated and followed sport on the planet. Here are some unlikely footballers with high IQ and quality education degrees.
In 2009, he undertook an IQ test with Mensa and scored one of the highest marks ever recorded. This is hardly surprising considering he has 11 GCSE's including an A in Latin of all languages. In 2013, the English international signed a major book deal with publisher Little Brown to write a series of children's books.
Named after the Greek philosopher, he is one of the very few professional footballers who was also a qualified medical doctor. He studied for his doctorate whilst playing football in what must be a unique twist on his education
He currently works as marketing director at Ajax. He has a Masters in Marketing.
Le Saux is great former Chelsea left back and although he is happily married. Graeme recently became a commentator for the U.S.-based NBC Sports Network television coverage Premier League season. He has a degree in Environmental science.
Mata studied journalism at Universidad Politecnica de Madrid. Now at Chelsea he has embarked upon several distance learning courses, including a sports science degree, physical education and marketing.
