First Chinese community college gets nod to upgrade

- The Higher Education Ministry finally approved to upgrading the status of the Southern College to a university college after 22 years
- Located in Skudai, Johor, the college is the first and only non-profit Chinese community college that obtained the status
- The other two non-profit colleges, New Era College and Han Jiang College are also applying to upgrade their status
- Members of the board has also received an approval letter signed by Higher Education Minister Khaled Nordin
- In line with the upgrade, the board members of the college plans to raise RM20 million to enhance their infrastructure and teaching staff
