It was Harvey Dent who said, "the night is darkest before the dawn", in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds. Closer to reality, PTPTN borrowers have been faced with days of gloom, as they struggle with issues such as obtaining a loan (CCRIS) and being placed on the blacklist by PTPTN. The dawn however, seems to have finally broken out, as PTPTN's new "overlapping" facility will omit existing borrowers who apply for a second PTPTN loan from the CCRIS list and they will no longer be barred from travelling out of the country. The "overlapping: facility introduced on April 6, 2016 benefited some 32,213 borrowers then. Now, it's set to help out around 80,000. PTPTN chairman, Datuk Dr. Shamsul Annuar Nasarah used a simple example to explain what this "facility" was about; a student who owes RM15,000 for his Diploma, who proceeds to apply for RM21,000 for his degree. The student's grand total owed would be RM36,000, and the lump sum would only be due six months after the students graduates from his degree programme. Shamsul went on to assure that the student's name would not be listed in CCRIS and he/she would not be blacklisted by the Immigration Department. For those who want to avail to this "overlapping facility", a borrower must first convert their scheme to the syaruah-based ujrah scheme. You may do so by callling PTPTN at 03-2193 3000.
