Diploma for Quran analysts soon available in Malaysia

Students from religious schools will have the opportunity to acquire vocational certificates and diplomas recognized by the Ministry of Education (MoE).

Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Idris however said the programmes to be based on a modular system and resulting in certification is still currently in the planning stages.

"We suggest that every student who successfully completed at least four modules will be eligible for a certificate of proficiency while finishing six modules will result in a diploma, even if not studying full-time.

"After diploma, they may continue their studies at a Polytechnic for example, to obtain a degree," he said.

There are currently more than 40,000 students from religious schools and religious officers from various agencies are involved in 64 vocational programmes, including entrepreneurship in 91 Community Colleges every weekend.
