COVID-19: Schools and Universities to be Closed for 2 Weeks

March 17 – With the mass spread of COVID-19 across Malaysia, all educational institutions are to be cancelled as a safety measure.

On a special message aired last night, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced the temporary suspension of all gatherings including sports, social or religious events as well as schools and universities.

All houses of worship and business premises will be closed, except for supermarkets, wet markets, grocery shops and other premises involved in essential services.

COVID-19 is an infectious disease that was first identified in December 2019 in Wuhan, China. Common symptoms include fever, cough and shortness of breath. Muscle pain, sputum production and sore throat are less common.

The Movement Control Order will begin tomorrow until the end of the month, March 31st.
