Teaching is becoming more challenging, exciting and rewarding today especially with the presence of technology-based teaching practices. A number of schemes including scholarships have been created to encourage the right people to work in early childhood teaching. Recently, government has required students in the peninsula to have at least 7As in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia and 5As in Sabah and Sarawak.
Job opportunities for early childhood teachers will be aplenty. The Ministry of Education (MoE) is increasing pre-school enrolment from 67% in 2009 to 87% this year. This will gradually increase to 92% in 2015 and 97% by 2020. With plenty pre-schoolers, more pre-schools will need teachers with at least degree level qualifications.
