Celcom, Digi and 3 Other Telcos To Provide Data Packages for B40 SPM and STPM Students

On December 19th, the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) announced that 5 telecommunications companies (telcos), namely Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile, and Telekom Malaysia (TM), will be providing special data packages for SPM and STPM students from B40 (lower income group) families.

From January 6th 2021, pre-paid data passes will be offered at RM20 for 15GB for 30-day periods up until the end of the examinations in April.

The commission stated that the five telcos will be carrying on with their respective free online classes, Tuisyen Rakyat programme (Celcom), Jom Tuisyen (Digi), e-Kelas (Maxis), I-Learn Ace (TM), and Learning From Home (YTL), with free SIM card with 40GB data, content, and free telephone for students from B40 families.

Students from B40 families can apply for mobile phones without any charge.

The Learning From Home (LFH) facility initiated by YTL will also continue until the SPM and STPM exams end.

In addition, free Wi-Fi access will be available until April at public spaces at 130 People’s Housing Projects (PPR) across the country as a result of the initiative by the Celcom, Digi, Maxis, U Mobile, TM, and TIME.

The community internet centres will now operate from 9am to 9pm in order to accommodate the schedules of students from B40 households, allowing them to perform their daily and learning activities with ease.
