For the ninth time in as many years, a Brickfields Asia College Certificate of Legal Practice (CLP) student has received the Tun Hamid Omar Award for Best Overall Student in the country. This is the first time that students from the same institution have been awarded this coveted prize for the 9th consecutive year.

This year’s recipient, Gwee Chai Lian, had this to say: “Although the CLP course was very challenging, BAC made it a fun experience thanks to its movie days and other events. The difference with BAC was that it wasn’t all about studies; it was also about leading a balanced life.”

Four other BAC students also won book prizes which recognize the student who has achieved the highest mark in the individual papers. Professional Practice Book Prize winner Tharshini Sivadass said “I joined BAC six years ago for my A-Levels and continued to study there up to the CLP programme. I must commend BAC for catering to part time students, as I found it very helpful to study for the CLP programme as a part time student.”

Civil Procedure Book Prize winner Teoh Chye Yi commented that “BAC’s CLP programme was highly recommended to me by friends and its stellar track record was the deciding factor for me” while joint winner Melissa Ting Shiang Erl said “I really appreciate BAC for keeping its PJ campus library open 24 hours for us to study. It is indeed a great place to study and I don’t think I could have done as well without BAC.”

The winner of the General Paper Book Prize Goh Hsaio Tung had this to say: “BAC definitely played an important part in my achievement. I am grateful to the team of dedicated and wonderful lecturers in BAC for providing me the guidance necessary to ensure that I pass the CLP and win a book prize in the process."

BAC’s Chairman and CLP Senior Lecturer, Mr Raja Singham, commented that “We’re really proud of our CLP Class of 2013. They have worked very hard, and their results are well deserved.”

Since 2005, BAC has produced 9 out of 9 top students, 50 out of 62 book prize winners and 51 out of 63 second upper performances in the history of the examinations. For more information about law programmes, please click here.
