BPMB has 2 million in store to sponsor students overseas

Bank Pembangunan Malaysia Berhad (BPMB) has allocated RM 2 million every year to sponsor students to study overseas.

The President and Director of BPMB Group Mohammed Rafidz Ahmed Rasiddi said until now the bank has sponsored 12 eligible students.

The scholarship includes tuition fees, living allowances, book allowances, computer allowances and insurance for a study period of three years.

"This scholarship is a form of BPMB's social responsibility in aiding the finances of eligible students and to also produce skilled workers.

"This is part of our effort to ensure that the students are not only skilled in accounting but also in technical skills," he said.

The four scholarship recipients between the age of 18 and 20 will be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in finance, accounting, actuary science and mathematics and law at the University of Warwick, University of Manchester and University of Reading in the United Kingdom.

Mohammed Rafidz also said that the sponsored students have been allocated for a spot under BPMB's training programme after graduation, before they get hired by the bank.

Muhammad Danish Hafiz Ibrahim, 20, said that he feels very lucky to have been a recipient of the BPMB scholarship.

"I will do my best and gain experience in order to upgrade myself before coming back for work in Malaysia," said the student who will be pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in Actuary Science and Mathematics at the University of Manchester.

On the other hand, Nur Dayana Muhammad Azhar, 18, said that she will fully utilize this opportunity to graduate in Law from the University of Reading.
