All School Staff Will be Vaccinated by September 1st

It was announced by the Education Ministry on July 17 that schools will be reopening for face-to-face classes on September 1, 2021.

Following that, Khairy Jamaluddin has now stated that by the time all schools reopen, all school staff will be vaccinated in efforts to ensure that there is a safe environment when schools are open again.

Working closely with the Education Ministry, he added that they are ensuring that not only teachers will be vaccinated, “We are also looking at vaccinating support staff and those working at schools such as cleaners, canteen operators, security guards and bus drivers.”

Furthermore, as of July 23, it was stated by education minister Radzi Jidin that 67% of teachers across that nation have had at least their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine. In addition, 85.17% of them that are teaching students that will be sitting for exams, have also had their first dose.

He also stated in a Facebook post that, “As for school staff, 54.52% have received at least one dose of the vaccine. Efforts will be made to increase the vaccination rate among this group.”
