AirAsia Introduces The Redbeat Academy, Open to Malaysians

Redbeat Academy was successfully launched yesterday by AirAsia Digital in partnership with Google to mark its ongoing digital transformation journey.

The Academy is now available to the public when initially it was opened to cross train and upskill AirAsia Allstars (employees) only.  

Tan Sri Tony Fernandes, the Group’s Chief Executive Officer, said the Academy would focus on contributing to five segments – AirAsia Allstars, corporate and SMEs, universities, government agencies and public individuals.

Malaysian Industry Government Group of High Technology (MIGHT) and Redbeat Academy has also signed a partnership with a goal to reskill a group of talents in high technology projects and software engineer.

In addition, Redbeat also signed with Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia and Asia School of Business in collaboration with MIT Sloan Management. MIT Sloan Management will be awarding a micro-credential to RedBeat Academy courses and acknowledge it as part of the Accreditation of Prior Experiential Learning.

100,000 talents have been targeted to annually deliver solutions in three major areas namely, Betabuild Labs (offered by AirAsia and supported by Google to assist enterprises develop new digital businesses with employees), skills development programmes, and career coaching and hiring serviced.

Tony Fernandes said at the Science, Technology and Innovation launch held by Minister Khairy Jamaluddin, “With the mission to empower, connect and develop a sustainable tech talent pipeline, we are also proud to open the academy to the public now to provide opportunities for everyone, with the focus on mentoring the best in breed industry-ready professionals and producing problem-solvers using technology".

Khairy Jamaluddin explained that the inception of the academy shows a vast global style in present day digital world, which reinvents the way businesses are run, workplaces are restructured and a shift from a more traditional concept to digital for product marketing, which is more consumer-centric.

Khairy added, "These efforts are in line with the government's key initiative, the National Technology and Innovation Sandbox, aimed to accelerate Malaysia's ascent in becoming a high-tech and high-income nation while generating greater social impact and strengthening the social innovation ecosystem structure".

135 AirAsia Allstar graduated in their digital fundamentals courses as celebrated by the academy yesterday.
