Last Saturday, Afterschool's team went to a seminar called How to Become a Pilot, organized by Flyingschool.com.my at Silka Maytower Hotel, Kuala Lumpur. We learned a lot from the seminar as Captain Badrul shared useful information on the tips to become pilots.

The first thing that students must know when it comes to becoming a pilot, is the academic requirements. For your information, the academic requirements needed for local and overseas studies for piloting is different:

Academic requirements for Malaysian studies

  • 5 SPM credits, 3 of which must be English, Mathematics and any Science subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Biology or General Science).
  • Medical : First class Drug Control Authority for Commercial Pilot License

Academic requirements for overseas studies

  • High school graduate
  • Able to read, write and speak in English
  • Pass at least Band 5.5 for IELTS
