  • Higher Education Ministry to conduct audit on 9 IPTS
  • The 9 institutions' services, programmes and administration will be reviewed by representatives from IPTA and IPTS

To ensure the quality of education in the country, the Higher Education Ministry will review nine private institutions of higher learning beginning next month.  The nine IPTS are:

  1. Selangor Industrial University (UNISEL)
  2. Insaniah University College (KUIN)
  3. Malaysian University of Science and Technology
  4. Asian Institute of Medicine Science and Technology (AIMST)
  5. Selangor International Islamic University College (KUIS)
  6. Twintech University College of Technology
  7. Linton University College
  8. Kuala Lumpur Metropolitan University College
  9. Licoln University College

These nine IPTS were selected due to the number of complaints the ministry received from public.

According to Higher Education Minister Datuk Seri Mohamed Khaled, the government will monitor its administration, services and programmes. The review will be conducted by a committee composed of representatives from public higher learning institutions (IPTA) and IPTS.

The review does not have a certain time frame and will be up to the reviewers. According to the Minister, this review exercise will be done yearly.

Presently, Malaysia has 70 private universities and university colleges.
