Chairman of the Association of Bumiputera Education Tour 2016, Tan Sri Prof Dr Sahol Hamid Abu Bakar targeted 37,000 Bumiputera students to obtain placements in local institutions of higher education.
According to him, around 12,000 Bumiputera students managed to enroll in higher education institutions and that number is expected to grow.
"There are 35 more areas to be explored in order to search, identify and help dropout Bumiputera students who want to continue their studies," said Dr Sahol after the opening of the Bumiputera Education Exploration Program 2016.
This program has placed Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) leavers in vocational higher institutions, since its launch in March.
