  • The number of men employed and how productive they are at work has a lot to do with the available opportunities to acquire and maintain relevant skill
  • Building solid bridges between the world of work and training providers can help resolve this inadequacy

At the moment, only 28 per cent of Malaysia's 12 million workforce are highly skilled. This is slightly  halfway of its target of 50 per cent by 2020.

To achieve this target, the Human Resource Ministry together with the Education Ministry and private sectors have agreed to collaborate and develop sustainable plans to help locals acquire and share more technological knowledge and develop expertise in their respective fields.

In terms of technical and vocational education, the Human Resource Ministry plans to more than double the number of students taking TVET from 130,000 to 300,000.
