1Malaysia Book Voucher for Tertiary students aged 21 and above

  • Tertiary students aged 21 and above are not entitled to receive the RM250 given out under the 1Malaysia People's Aid BR1M 2.0 meant for single unmarried people aged 21 and above earning less than RM2,000 per month the Finance Ministry clarified today
  • The students were however entitled to receive the 1Malaysia Book Voucher to be given out a second time with the sum raised from RM50 to RM250 to benefit 1.3 million students nationwide it said in a statement
  • The 1Malaysia Book Voucher was an aid to reduce the cost of books bought by the students and involved an allocation of RM325 million it added.
  • The clarification comes in the wake of several newspaper reports today that tertiary students and the unemployed were also eligible for the aid.
  • Prime Minister and Finance Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak in tabling Budget 2013 in the Dewan Rakyat last Friday announced BR1M 2.0 a second one-off payment of RM500 for households earning less than RM3,000 per month
  • He also announced that BR1M 2.0 was extended to cover single unmarried individuals aged 21 and above earning not more than RM2,000 per month with a single one-off payment of RM250.
