The PhD is a two-year, full-time programme or four-year, part time programme. However, these are minimum periods of study, and it usually takes the equivalent of at least 36 months full-time research to complete the PhD degree.The MPhil is a one year full-time or two-year part-time programme, but students usually require the equivalent of at least 24 months full-time research for the MPhil degree.Research supervision is offered across the breadth of the research expertise in the school, namely in:educational leadership and managementinterdisciplinary researchinternational and comparative education and developmentlanguage and literacy educationspecial needsteacher education and teacher development
Entry Requirements
MPhil : An upper second class honours degree (or international equivalent) in a relevant discipline and normally some experience in research methodology, (e.g., undergraduate level dissertation or research project). Non-UK qualifications will be assessed against this standard. PhD : A masters degree, normally with a merit grade (or international equivalent) in a relevant discipline and some experience in research methodology, (e.g., postgraduate level dissertation or research project). Non-UK qualifications will be assessed against this standard. Other equivalent qualifications will be considered on a case-by-case basis. Applicants must have graduated from an approved university
English language requirements
IELTS: 6.5 (with no less than 6.0 in each element) TOEFL (iBT): 87 (minimum 20 in Speaking and 19 in all other elements) PTE (Academic): 62 (with no less than 55 in each element) IELTS and TOEFL test results must be less than two years old and all IELTS must be the academic version of the test.
