The Bachelor of Economics programme is designed to provide a solid grounding in theory and economic knowledge and improve the critical and analytical skills of students. The core and elective courses are shaped to produce graduates with broad-based as well as specialized knowledge. Since 2015, the newly introduced specialization system provides students with the option to specialize in one of four (4) areas, namely;
STPM (Current Year)
Science and Arts Stream
Passed the STPM with at least CGPA 3.00;
and
Obtained at least grade B at the STPM level in one (1) of the following subjects:
Obtained at least Grade B at the SPM level in Mathematics;
Obtained at least Band 2 in MUET
Matriculation/Foundation
Science and Accounting Stream
Passed the Matriculation / Foundation with at least CGPA 3.00;
Obtained at least Grade B (3.00) at the Matriculation/Foundation level in one (1) of the following subjects:
Diploma/Equivalent
REQUIREMENT 1
Possess a Diploma in economics and administration or other related fields from any institution recognized by the Government of Malaysia and approved by the University’s Senate with at least CGPA 3.00;
OR
REQUIREMENT 2
Passed STPM not in current year with at least CGPA 3.00 and obtained at least grade B in one (1) of the following subjects:
REQUIREMENT 3
Passed the Matriculation/ Foundations not in current year with at least CGPA 3.00 and obtained at least grade B in one (1) of the following subjects:
Other Requirements
A Level, IB, Passed the Australian Matriculation Program (AUSMAT) and Malaysian Sports School Certificate
Passed the GCE A-Level with at least grade B in one (1) of the following subjects:
or
Obtained at least Band 4 in IELTS (Academic)
Obtained score of at least 437 - 473 (PBT) / 123 - 150 (CBT) / 41 - 52 (IBT) in TOEFL.
Possess International Baccalaureate Diploma (IB)with at least 30 point score
Obtained grade 5 (Higher Level) in one (1) of the following subjects:
Obtained at least Grade B at the SPM level in Mathematics; and
Passed the Australian Matriculation programme (AUSMAT) with at least Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) of 80 percent; and
Obtained 16 point (High Achievement) at the AUSMAT level in one (1) of the following subjects:
REQUIREMENT 4
Passed the Malaysian Sports School Pre-University Certificate with at least CGPA of 3.00;
Obtained at least Grade B at the level of Malaysian Sports School Pre-University Certificate in one (1) of the following subjects:
NOTE: Candidates may apply using Advanced Subsidiary (AS) examination results. A-Level examination results should be submitted later once it has been obtained.
