The Department of Electrical Power Engineering is established to develop the advantage of its strong link with the Electricity Supply Industry through the parent company, Tenaga Nasional Berhad. The department consists of young energetic academicians as well as experienced practising engineers in various fields of Electrical Power Engineering. The department offers programmes leading to the award of Bachelor of Engineering, B.Eng. (Electrical Power).The curricula for the undergraduate programmes require a strong foundation in mathematics, physics and computer. Courses in electrical and electronics engineering begin in the first year after foundation programme. The courses include topics such as electrical circuit analysis, electronics, digital system, microprocessor, electromagnetic fields, electrical machines and drives, power systems, power electronics and high voltage technology. Laboratory sessions reinforce the principles learnt in the classroom which include electrical measurement techniques, application of non-linear devices, digital logic design, signal processing, microprocessor, electrical machines and power electronics. Many engineering courses are classified as design courses and complemented by computer aided engineering software as simulation and design tools.
STPM
Pass STPM with a minimum CGPA of 2.00 and at least Grade C for Mathematics and any 1 relevant Science Physical and Pass English in SPM Level.
Matriculation
Physical/Technical Stream: Min CGPA 2.00.
Foundation
Foundation from other institution with minimum CGPA 2.0.
A-Level
Pass A-Level with credit in Mathematics and 1 Science Physical subject.
Diploma
Pass Diploma in related field with minimum CGPA 2.00.
HND (UK) Diploma
Pass HND in related field with minimum CGPA 2.00.
UEC
Pass UEC with a minimum of grade B in 5 subjects including Advance Mathematics and Science Physical subjects.
IB
Pass IB with total points at 24 in 6 subjects including Maths and 1 Physical Science subject.
SAME/WACE/AUSMAT
Pass with everage marks of 55% with Maths and any Physical Science.
English Language Requirements
Have taken MUET; or Pass IELTS with band 5.0 and above; or Pass TOEFL with score 500 and above.
