The Bachelor Degree of Mechanical Engineering (Automotive) officially started in the Academic Session of 2003/2004. The programme is a mechanical engineering based with specialisation in automotive engineering. Currently, automotive engineering is one of the engineering branches that are developing rapidly. The programme is intended to fulfil the government’s aspiration in order to produce multi-skilled graduates in the field of science and technology. A highly demanded automotive engineer should have profound knowledge on technology applications from various aspects like design, vehicle dynamics, passenger comfortability, driving efficiency, engine performance, structures and vehicle safety. Apart from that, an automotive engineer should be able to design and analyse vehicle parts or products and its subsystems.
In relation to that, this course consists of core mechanical engineering subjects as well as automotive-related elective subjects. These combinations of studies are expected to produce graduates with knowledge and skills demanded by potential employer. Students will also be taught on mathematical principles, engineering science and technology in order to solve related automotive problems. Moreover, they will be using simulation software such as CATIA, Solidworks, MSC ADAMS, MSC NASTRAN/PATRAN and Matlab. C Grade (NGMP 2.00) in General Studies; and
C Grade (NGMP 2.00) in two(2) other subjects or A pass in Matriculation 2009 or previous examination with at least a CGPA of 2.00 and Obtained at least Band 1 in the Malaysian University English Test (MUET).
