The programme was designed to enable students to acquire the necessary knowledge in the field of food science and food services. Students have the opportunity to learn basic knowledge of food science such as food preservation, food processing, food quality control, and function of food nutrients. In addition, students also acquire theoretical knowledge and practical skills such as management of food science kitchen, basic cooking (oriental and western food), commercial food preparation, menu development, kitchen maintenance and others. Students are also required to take up industrial training in various food industries such as food catering and hotels, research institutions or government agencies. Graduates from this program will have the opportunity to work in the food industry, especially in the hotel and catering, education and research institutes.
