The course consists of a 5 year integrated programme which is based on four themes of Man, the Cell , the Community and Personal and Professional Development . Teaching and learning are based on body systems instead of the traditional separation of disciplines of anatomy, physiology, biochemistry, pathology, microbiology etc. The medical programme is integrated under specific themes such as the cardiovascular system, gastrointestinal system etc. where all relevant basic medical science and clinical disciplines are involved.The curriculum emphasizes on student centered learning with early introduction of clinical experience. Community and public health exposure as well as an emphasis on behavioural science, communication skills and professional development are further features of the curriculum. Research methodology and experience remains an integral component of curriculum while the clinical teaching is comprehensive to ensure that students obtain adequate clinical experience making them knowledgeable and skills doctors.
