This program aims to develop human resources trained in the management of ocean resources of the country. The emphasis will be on practical and theoretical knowledge of marine science comprehensive covering aspects of biological oceanography, chemical, physical and geological. Aspects of the current focus in the field of marine science are like ocean resource development, environmental impact assessment, pollution and marine policy. The program also has the advantage of practical training at sea and marine science related research projects. This could be achieved given the UMT has a complete range of oceanographic equipment and amenities.
Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) / equivalent with credits in Bahasa Melayu / Bahasa Malaysia or credit in Malay / Bahasa Malaysia paper in July;
Have a diploma or other qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government and approved by the Senate public; or
Passed in Malaysian Higher School Certificate (STPM) with at least;
Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in General Studies;
Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in two (2) other subjects; or
Passed Matriculation examination with a CGPA of at least 2.00;
A minimum of a Level 1 (Band 1) in the Malaysian University Bahasa Inggeris Test (MUET).
