This Diploma of Engineering Technology in Mechatronics programme prepares students to serve in manufacturing and process industries as maintenance technologists with interdisciplinary fundamentals and skills in automated system. The objective is to produce technologists who are competent and highly capable in the fields of mechanical and electrical, specializing in automated system. Under this programme, students will be provided with the skills and knowledge in the automated manufacturing system, including installation, modification, trouble-shooting, repairing and maintenance.
The programme is offered by UniKL in supporting its vision and mission. Students at UniKL will be exposed to various state-of-the-art equipment, combined with fundamental theories and practical know-how taught by qualified teaching staff. The name Mechatronics stems from mechanical and electronics and is a relatively new approach to product design and development, merging the principles of electrical, mechanical, computer and industrial engineering. It addresses the four interconnected disciplines used for all complex modern devices. Mechatronic systems are typically composed of traditional mechanical and electrical components but are referred to as "smart" devices or systems because of the incorporation of sensors, actuators and computer control systems. This program will prepare students for various professional in the manufacturing industries, oil and gas, water and waste treatment, robotics and industrial automation.
