This Diploma in Pharmacy course aims to provide the student with an appreciation of the role of a pharmacy assistant working in a community pharmacy environment. Furthermore, the course provides an introduction to knowledge and skills to provide a high quality clinical pharmacy service, as well as enabling students to develop skills in providing pharmaceutical care to serve the nation. Constant expansion of health care programmes and increasing need for quality pharmaceutical care ensure a continuing demand of well educated pharmacy assistants in the country. The student will spend 3 years full time studying with practical experience at several government and private hospitals. The curriculum is designed to meet the requirements of the health sector. A key element of the course is the hospital based practical activities (during health semester 4 & 5) which provides the opportunity for students to put theory into practice. Upon successful completion of the programme, a Diploma will be awarded by the University.
Bahasa Melayu,
Mathematics,
one Science or Technical;
two other subjects; and
at least a pass in English; OR 2.) Posses a Certificate from IKM/ILP or other certificates recognized by the Senate in relevant fields with CGPA of 2.0 and above; and at least a pass in Bahasa Melayu at SPM level.
