Geology is the Greek phrase 'geo' meaning Earth and 'logos' meaning knowledge. Knowledge about the Earth's cover of origin, content, and historical development. From the field of descriptive and philosophical, geological integrate knowledge of mathematics, chemistry, physics and biology in order to reach the main functions and dynamics of the earth to find the source (ground water, minerals, metals, crude petroleum, natural gas, minerals and radioactive materials) that needed to develop human civilization.Now modern geology, better known geoscience, expand the coverage of economic geology and petroleum geology to the engineering geologist. Geologists are now working in tandem with civil engineers and geotechnical engineers to provide geological information to construction, large infrastructure such as dams, bridges, skyscrapers and airports are safe and cost effective manner. Geologists study the environment through geological causes geobencana such as landslides, mudflows, earthquakes,  tsunamis, volcanoes and the like and find ways to reduce the damage and build a warning system.
