The programme is designed to train students on research approaches and methodologies in the field of IT that has been the primary industrial focus in Malaysia. Students shall be able to conduct specialized research within various domains ranging from system development, information systems, software engineering, business intelligence, networking, security and forensics. This full-research doctoral program, accompanied by a prototype system as the final deliverable, should be the natural choice for those who have completed their Master of IT and Master of Computer Science in their pursuit of furthering their academic credentials. Such endeavour is also seen as essential to project the nation into becoming a high income nation by 2020.
You must meet the following requirements in order to be considered for entry to the UNITAR Ph.D Programme: A Master’s Degree in the field of Information Technology, Computer Science, Software Engineering or its equivalent; AND pass SPM with credit in English OR A Master’s Degree from an institution which uses English as the medium of instruction; OR Pass an internal assessment (oral examination) set by the university, with a minimum grade of C. The panel of the assessment shall comprise of two senior members of the faculty/school and a representative from the English Language Department from UNITAR Foundation School (UFS) or other relevant department. The panel is appointed by the Dean/Director of the respective faculty/school/centers. For international students, candidate with minimum score of 550 in Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or minimum score of 6.0 in International English Language Testing System (IELTS). Any additional assistance will be provided by the staff of the English Language Department. OR Any other equivalent qualifications recognized by the Malaysian Government.
ADDITIONAL TERMS
A proposal of about 500 words in English must be submitted together with all the relevant documents required for admission to the University on the registration day.
