The Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) of Xiamen University was established in 1956. Over its 60-plus years of development, it has trained more than 20,000 outstanding TCM professionals from over 50 countries and regions, making significant contributions to the development of TCM in China and Southeast Asia.

The Department of TCM is part of the School of Medicine at Xiamen University, which boasts a strong faculty team with a total of 1,023 staff members, including clinical preceptors. The School of Medicine has robust clinical strength, with 11 affiliated hospitals ranked as tertiary Class A (the highest hospital grade in China) and 5 teaching hospitals.

It has top-tier research capabilities, establishing over 50 teaching and research institutions, including:

  • The Straits (Xiamen) TCM Science and Technology Platform
  • The National Virtual Simulation Experimental Teaching Centre for Medicine
  • The National Clinical Teaching and Training Demonstration Centre
