The Chinese Studies programme is one of the earliest programmes established at Xiamen University Malaysia (XMUM). It has inherited the fine traditions of Xiamen University while benefiting from the expertise of faculty members from the Departments of History and Philosophy at the main campus.

Students gain both broad and in-depth knowledge of Chinese language, literature, history, philosophy, and culture, applying their learning in research and practical work. XMUM’s unique bilingual environment, using both English and Chinese, helps students develop cross-cultural communication skills and adapt to a multicultural society.

The programme actively organises academic and career-oriented lectures and has launched its own departmental journal, Yingming, along with a literary publication, Rushi. These initiatives broaden students’ academic perspectives and enhance their career readiness.

Graduates of the Chinese Studies programme have strong employment prospects in education, media, culture, and business. Academically, they have the option to pursue graduate studies at Xiamen University or other prestigious institutions in China and worldwide, including continuing their master’s or doctoral studies at XMUM.
