An underprivileged person has to have the same opportunity at education as a person who can afford to attend an expensive school.Nurul Atiqa Afandi, the 22-year-old daughter of a lorry driver who received the Universiti Tun Abdul Razak’s (UniRazak) highest honour for her academic achievement. Atiqa studied Business Administration (Islamic Financial Planning) and has graduated with a CGPA of 3.91 in the subject. This admirable achievement earned her the Chancellor Award. The award was presented to her by UniRazak's Chancellor Tun Dr Ahmad Sarji Abdul Hamid during the 16th Convocation Ceremony on Saturday, November 5th.She was one of 321 graduates to received their scrolls at the ceremony, three of which completed their PhD studies and 24 completed their masters.Professor Datuk Seri Dr Md Zabid Abdul Rashid, UniRazak president and vice-chancellor, said in his speech that the university is committed to offering quality education that can be affordable to all Malaysians. He also said that the institution is sensitive to the needs of the people and it is increasingly producing professional graduates that are fit for the workforce.“The quality, academic progress, as well as UniRazak’s position among other higher-learning institutions in Malaysia, has been recognised by the Higher Education Ministry in research and development, and we have also been rated four stars for the Malaysia Research Assessment Instrument, along with two public universities and three private universities,” he added.According to Zabid, 95% of UniRazak's graduates find employment within three months after completing their studies.
