Food Technology

<p>A programme that brings together the world of culinary, gastronomy and entrepreneurship. The culinary component trains students in fundamental skills in the preparation and presentation of various food products. The gastronomy part is directed at the knowledge in physical, chemical and biological properties of food to enable food innovation and development of new food products. The entrepreneurship element develops students&rsquo; entrepreneurial know-how and sharpen their business acumen to lead, manage and even launch their own food-based business in the dynamic F &amp; B industry.</p>

<p>(1) STPM - Grade C in 2 relevant subjects<br />(2) A Level - Grade D in 2 relevant subjects<br />(3) UEC - Grade B in 5 relevant subjects<br />(4) TAR UMT - Foundation in Arts (Track B) OR Relevant Diploma <br />(5) Other IHL - Relevant Foundation/ Diploma accredited by MQA</p><p><strong>Compulsory subject:</strong></p><p>For (1), (2), (3) and (5): Students who do not have at least a pass in English Language (SPM/ O Level/ UEC) must attend TAR UMT Essential English Skills course during their first semester in the programme.</p><p><strong>Note:</strong></p><p>a) Students without a credit in SPM Bahasa Melayu are required to pass Bahasa Kebangsaan A before the award of Bachelor Degree.<br />b) TAR UMT Diploma will be accepted on credit transfer into Bachelor Degree programmes.<br />c) Equivalent qualifications/qualifications from other Institution of Higher Learning (IHL) will be considered on a case-by-case basis.<br />d) Subject to the Ministry of Education latest requirements.</p>

It also provides an edge to the students who wish to be a part of the industry in the desired fields post qualification.</p><h3 class="common-heading">Basics or Overview of a Bachelor Degree Program</h3><p class="common-text">Students prefer bachelor degree programs to gain more knowledge of Industry as well as academics. Generally, a bachelor degree takes three years for completion and it&rsquo;s available in almost any discipline that one wishes to study. Those students who take Mathematics &amp; Science in their PUC or Intermediate can enroll themselves in a Bachelor of Science (B.Sc.) course. The course can be especially beneficial for students who wish to be a future scientist or interested in pursuing any other scientific career options.
