<p>The Post Basic in Perioperative Nursing (PBPN) is a 6-month, locally developed programme offered by the School of Medical and Life Sciences at Sunway University. Approved by the Ministry of Higher Education Malaysia (MOHE) and the Malaysian Qualification Agency (MQA) on March 9, 2021, this programme follows the guidelines set by the Nursing Board Malaysia. The Post Basic Certificate in Perioperative Nursing (PBCPN) is a 20-credit programme, with clinical practice primarily conducted at Sunway Medical Centre and KKM hospitals.</p>
<p>The curriculum covers key topics such as the fundamentals of systemic perioperative nursing, communication and counselling, anaesthesia care, and more. These subjects are designed to provide graduates with the skills needed for effective care, communication, and counselling. The programme also ensures a strong foundation in essential skills, including surgical instrumentation, sterility principles, anaesthesia practices, and safe perioperative nursing procedures like surgical scrubbing, gowning, gloving, and patient skin preparation.</p>

<p>MQA Requirement<br />Certified medically fit.<br />Possess current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) for nurses from MNB.<br />Possess Diploma in Nursing from a recognised institution by MNB.<br />Minimum TWO (2) years of clinical working experience.<br />University Requirement<br />At least THREE (3) months of experience in the related field (operating theatre)</p>
