The Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Medical Science is a research-oriented programme that immerses students in bidirectional translational medicine. This programme is designed to address current medical challenges by either translating patient and medical care issues into laboratory research or by transforming laboratory and clinical discoveries into new treatments and strategies that enhance health and medical care within the community.

Under the guidance of experienced supervisors, students will identify a research question within the field of medical science and conduct independent research on their chosen topic. The programme includes a mandatory taught module, Clinical Research Methodology, which equips students with essential skills in project planning and management, while also fostering an understanding of ethical considerations and social responsibility. To complete the programme, students must submit a thesis based on their original research, which will then undergo examination and a viva voce.
