Universiti Malaysia Perlis (UniMAP) is located at the northern region of Malaysia, about 35 km from the Thailand border in the town of Arau, Perlis. Established in 2001 as Kolej Universiti Kejuruteraan Utara Malaysia (KUKUM), the aim of the university was to produce a new breed of engineers to respond to technical requisites needed in the Malaysia’s Industrial Master Plan.
Programmes
Currently, UniMAP offers over a dozen postgraduate programmes and one doctorate programme for students. Electronic-based engineering is UniMAP’s focus; however, related fields of engineering and technology that support the advancement of electronic-based engineering – such as bioprocess engineering, manufacturing engineering, and environmental engineering - are also pursued.
UniMAP's rich research background has been a source of pride to them, winning awards at such events as the Malaysian Technology Expo, the British Invention Show, the Seoul International Invention Fair and the International Trade Fair Ideas-Inventions-New Products being only a few.
