<p align="justify">The Diploma in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language is a teacher training programme that equips students with a combination of theoretical and practical skills. It takes into account knowledge, abilities and cultural construction to enhance students&rsquo; professionalism. This programme develops qualified and outstanding teachers through cultivating students&rsquo; teaching capabilities.</p>
<p align="justify">This programme is divided into 4 different academic fields: Chinese language knowledge, Teaching methods, Education and other education related studies, Chinese literature and culture.</p>
<p align="justify">An exciting and unique feature of this programme lies in its transnational practicum. Under this, students may be sent abroad for their practicum to obtain real-life experience of teaching Chinese abroad. This practical training helps to enhance students&rsquo; teaching skills while enriching their teaching experience.</p>
<p align="justify">Upon successful completion of this two-year programme, students may continue their studies by pursuing a Bachelor of Education (Teaching Chinese as a Second Language) (BTCSL) degree.</p>

Academic Requirements

<p style="text-align: justify;">The New Era University College started as New Era College in 1998. The college was the outcome of many years of effort and unwavering support from the Chinese community. On 30 December 2016, New Era was upgraded to university college status by the Ministry of Higher Education. With that NEUC is now ready and able to play an even bigger role as a provider of quality community-orientated tertiary education to serve not only the needs of the community but also that of the whole nation.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">This university college currently has nine faculties comprising of the Graduate School; Institute of International Education; Arts &amp; Social Sciences; Computer Science and Information Computing Technology; Art and Design; Communication, Cinematic and Performing Arts; Accountancy, Management and Economics; and Heath, Safety, Secutiry and Environment, Institute of Ageing and Professional Care.&nbsp;</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Within these faculties are ten departments: Chinese Language &amp; Literature, Education, Guidance &amp; Counselling Psychology, Southeast Asian Studies, Business Studies, Finance &amp; Accounting, Information Computing Technology, Art &amp; Design, Drama &amp; Visuals and Media Studies.
