Course

In this course, you’ll develop a strong foundation in both theoretical and practical geology, along with technical and commercial skills essential for your career. You’ll study key subjects such as chemistry, mathematics, scientific communication, and computer skills, with an introduction to geology.

As you progress, you’ll build laboratory, field, and theoretical skills to understand geological processes and tackle real-world challenges. The course covers essential areas such as mineralogy, petrology, sedimentology, structural geology, geological field mapping and geophysics focusing on understanding the earth processes and evaluating natural resources such as hydrocarbon and minerals.

In your final year, you’ll deepen your knowledge of applied geology, including topics like basin analysis, hydrogeology, formation evaluation, environmental geoscience, and tectonics.

A major highlight is the Geoscience Project, where you’ll sharpen your research skills through experimental, theoretical, and field-based studies. This project showcases your ability to collect and analyse data, solve complex problems, and manage tasks independently. You’ll also have the chance to publish your research in peer-reviewed journals and collaborate internationally.
