COURSE OVERVIEW

The Diploma in Nursing is a 3-year (6 semesters) full-time programme. The emphasis of this programme is on the ‘art’ of nursing (caring) for individuals with health problems. The ‘science’ of nursing is integrated throughout the programme to enable the students to understand the rationale of care provided to clients.

Upon successful completion of the programme, the students will be eligible to sit for the Malaysian Nursing Board Examination to be licensed as a Registered Nurse.

The programme has full accreditation status from Malaysian Quali?cation Agency. The diploma is recognised by Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) and is accepted by Nursing Boards of many countries.

SPM (Malaysian Candidates)

Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or *equivalent with five (5) credits: Mandatory credits in:

Bahasa Melayu
Mathematics (Elementary or Additional or Modern)

Either one (1) of the credit below:

Science/Biology/Chemistry/Physics/ Applied Science.

AND

Credit in two (2) other subjects.

AND

Pass in English.

Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM)
Possess Assistant Nurse Certificate / Community Nurse Certificate.
Registered with the MNB.
Possess a current Annual Practising Certificate (APC) for nurses from MNB.
Minimum three (3) years of clinical working experience.

SPM (International Candidates)

Pass Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) or *equivalent with five (5) subjects (minimum Grade C):

Credit in Mathematics (Elementary or Additional or Modern)

ANDEither one (1) of the credit below:

Science/Biology/Chemistry/Physics/ Applied Science

AND

Credit in three (3) other subjects.

AND

A pass in the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) with an Overall Band Score of minimum 5.5.

Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL):

TOEFL Paper Based Test (TOEFL PBT) a minimum score of 515.
TOEFL Computer Based Test (TOEFL CBT) a minimum score of 215.
TOEFL Internet-Based Test (TOEFL IBT) a minimum score of 80.

Cambridge English: Advanced (CAE)
Cambridge English: Proficiency (CPE)
Pearson Test of English (PTE)

Note:

ALL Malaysian students must have credits in Bahasa Melayu at SPM level for admission into Nursing Programmes.
ALL International students must have English requirements: IELTS Band 5.5; OR TOEFL 550 (Written-based), 215 (Computer-based), 80 (internet-based).
