Food Science and Nutrition study involves various science disciplines such as chemistry, biochemistry, nutrition and engineering to teach students how diets and nutrition a?ect the health of individuals, and also the technologies for creating new food products, and to design new processes to improve the safety and quality of foods.A challenging programme, the study begins with an understanding of the biological and physical sciences as a basis for understanding the science of food and nutrition, as well as the relationship between nutrition and health. Students possessing an analytical, inquisitive mind who are interested in applying food science principles to further enhance the health and welfare of mankind, will bene?t greatly from this programme.
SPM / ’O’ Levels: Minimum 5 credits, inclusive of Mathematics and 2 pure science subjects
STPM (Science stream): 2 principals (C) out of Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics / Physics
A-Levels: 2 principals (E) out of Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics / Physics
UEC (Science stream): 5 credits (Inclusive of Chemistry, Biology & Mathematics / Physics) Minimum 4 credits, inclusive of Mathematics and 2 pure sciences subjects
CPU: Minimum average of 60% in 6 subjects, inclusive of Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics / Physics
Local Matriculation (Science based): Minimum CGPA 2.8, inclusive of C grade in Biology, Chemistry and Mathematics / Physics
International Baccalaureate (Science based): 26/42 from 6 subjects Minimum score of 5 out of 7 required in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics / Physics
Diploma / Advance Diploma / Degree / equivalent To be assessed by faculty on case-by-case basis
UCSI University Foundation: Pass
Other Year 12 Equivalent: Minimum average of 60% in Chemistry, Biology, Mathematics / Physics English Requirements:
Minimum score of Band 5 in MUET; Band 5.5 in IELTS; or a score of 213 (Computer-based) / 550 (Written-based) / 79 - 80 (Internet-based) in TOEFL.
Students are exempted from the above English requirements if they possess any of the following examination grades in their English subjects:
SPM (A+, A or A-); UEC (A1 or A2); a credit in O-Level (minimum C6); or 4 out of 7 in International Baccalaureate (IB)
Qualification/Examination is of English curriculum
If English Language requirements are not fulfilled, additional English module(s) may be taken at UCSI, concurrently with the above undergraduate programme
