This course focuses on the human body and how to enhance its performance. A little like fine tuning a Formula 1 race car to improve its speed. In this case it’s looking at our diet, our physical condition, our fitness, our psyche, our lifestyle and the like. This knowledge can then be applied to athletic performance: exercise physiology and sport nutrition in improving an athlete’s physical abilities.
With so many degree options out there, here are some top reasons why you should study Sports Science:
Bet that title caught your attention (wink*). Well, who else would you be treating if not athletes? You will need to coach them on what to eat, at what time specifically, when not to drink, what time to wake up and what kind of exercises they should do, going through every detail, to boost their metabolism and build muscle strength.
If you’ve ever wanted to be a sportsman but didn’t turn out to be one for whatever reason, then studying this course will be like a second chance for you. You love sports but you want to do Medicine as well. Which one to choose? Sports Science!
You get to treat their injuries and be (something like) a doctor to them. Part of your job is to improve their performance and physical abilities that will eventually help them perform better. Basically, you’re like the underdog that physically supports them while they shine on international television.
“The Olympic Games must not be an end in itself, they must be a means of creating a vast programme of physical education and sports competitions for all young people.”
- Avery Brundage

Every macro calorie counts! While you see many diets online, every person is different and as such you will need to keep a lookout and tailor make a regime suited for an active or recovering athlete, from their diet to their workout routine.
Not only will you need to convey certain, complicated information in an easy to understand manner, you’ll need to ensure that clients follow your instructions, which means dealing with different people from different backgrounds.
You’ll need to keep up with the latest innovations in the field, all the while not only looking at your client’s present condition, but how you can improve it in the long run, which means planning way ahead.
