Overview
Applications for the 2020 Elena Cooke Education Fund scholarships will open, as from March 9, 2020.
The Fund, set up in honour of the late Miss Elena Cooke, the longest serving headmistress of the Bukit Bintang Girls’ School (BBGS), aims to help underprivileged young people, whether they live with their families or were raised in children’s homes and orphanages, to pursue quality education after SPM in local colleges or universities.
Criteria
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS BEFORE APPLYING
- Applicant must have obtained at least 3As in the SPM or 2Cs in the STPM or a maximum of 26 points from 5 subjects in the UEC examination (all at least grade B) and must meet the course requirements of the college / university applied for.
- Applicant must be below 23 years old as at 31st December 2019.
- Applicant must be a Malaysian citizen.
- Household income must not be more than RM60,000.00 per annum.
- Applicant has not yet commenced his/her course in the college/university applied for.

TYPES OF SCHOLARSHIPS
Applicants may apply for a scholarship to finance their study at any one of the following institutions, but only in respect of any of the selected courses indicated below and on the terms set out below:
1. Sunway College/University (Sunway Campus in Selangor only)
Applicants may apply for entry into any of the following courses available at Sunway College/Sunway University (Sunway campus in Selangor only). Tuition fees and general fees (namely, fees other than tuition fees) will be fully covered whilst allowances for accommodation, books and living expenses will be given for the entire course.

2. First City University College (formerly known as KBU International College)
In respect of First City University College, applicants must still apply separately on their own to First City University College for entry into any of the courses below. Applicants who are successful in gaining entry may apply to the Elena Cooke Education Fund for financial assistance. Tuition fees and general fees will be fully covered whilst allowances for accommodation, books and living expenses will be given for the entire course.

3. KDU University College, Utropolis, Glenmarie
In respect of KDU University College, applicants must still apply separately on their own to KDU University College for entry into any of the courses below. Applicants who are successful in gaining entry may apply to the Elena Cooke Education Fund for financial assistance. Tuition fees and general fees will be fully covered whilst allowances for accommodation, books and living expenses will be given for the entire course.

4. Local Colleges/Universities
Applicants must apply separately on their own for courses at other local colleges and universities. However, ECEF scholarships are NOT open for A-levels or Foundation level courses. It is likely that IF any scholarship is granted by the Elena Cooke Education Fund, it will only be a partial scholarship. The Elena Cooke Education Fund reserves the sole and absolute discretion as to the amount of the scholarship.

How to apply for Elena Cooke Education Fund
1. State clearly in BLOCK LETTERS and complete all the sections.
2. If space is insufficient, please continue on a separate sheet and attach it to the application form.
3. Attach certified true copies in this order:
- SPM and/or STPM/UEC certificates (trial exam results will not be accepted).
- NRIC.
- LATEST results obtained in college (where applicable).
- Final year school leaving certificate and testimonial.
- Financial statements for parents/guardian/main household income earner as listed in Section G. All documents submitted will become the property of ECEF and will not be returned to the applicant.
4. Applicant, if short-listed, must attend an interview in the Klang Valley at own expense.
5. No correspondence will be entertained. Only short-listed applicants will be notified by email.
6. The amount of the scholarship, if granted, will be at the sole and absolute discretion of the Elena Cooke Education Fund.
7. Send completed application form and all attachments by Pos Laju (NOT Pos Express) /courier / hand to :

The application must be received by 5.00 pm, 10th April 2020. Late applications will be rejected.
