The new Foundation In Science programme is designed in such a way to equip the students with the necessary skills before they enroll for their degree programme. For instance, the foundation in science leading to biological science offers extensive studies in the biological field. The other streaming programmes offered are foundation in science leading to physical science and computer science. Both programmes offered a vast knowledge in the related field of studies. The students will have an early exposure on the subject matter before they join the degree programme in the following years. This will help the students to develop and improve their understanding by providing the basic knowledge in that area. As part of the teaching-learning strategy, students will have to undergo a few assessments as part of the continuous assessment. The continuous assessment component comprises a combination of tests, mid-term examination, laboratory reports, and a presentation which accounts for an allocation of about 40-50 marks depending on the course.
Students who wish to pursue degree programmes in Health, Pure and Applied Sciences, after completion of the Foundation of Science Programme at QIUP, the minimum entry requirements will be SPM or other equivalent qualifications approved by the University Senate and Ministry of Higher Education with credits in Mathematics, two Science subjects and two other subjects. Students who wish to pursue degree programme in Medicine after completion of their Foundation in Science programme at Quest International University Perak (QIUP) primarily need to possess a minimum entry qualification of grade ‘B’ in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics or Additional Mathematics and one other subject at the SPM or equivalent level. These are mandatory requirements set by the Malaysian Medical Council and the Ministry of Higher Education. Students who wish to pursue degree programmes in Dentistry or Pharmacy after completion of their Foundation in Science programme at QIUP will need to possess a minimum entry qualification of grade ‘B’ in Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics and Additional Mathematics at the SPM or equivalent level. The above entry requirements also apply for students with ‘O’ Level qualifications.
