COURSE OVERVIEW

Islamic studies play a main and vital role in moulding dedicated, honest and dynamic Muslim. This is due to the fact that Islamic studies influence the well-balanced life of a society in order to ensure peace and harmony in Malaysia.


The Diploma in Islamic Studies with education (DIS) is designed to fulfil individuals’ need who is interested to pursue careers in academic line.


Nowadays, many individuals are interested to learn and to be involved in the academic world – either those service in public and private sectors.


The programme aims to develop a foundation of Islamic knowledge and specific skills to students through various courses which offer wide and complex scope. Students will be exposed to the philosophy and theoretical part of the Islamic knowledge and contemporary issues in education. The useful key concepts, beliefs and practices would rather groomed them as a professional Muslim Educator.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Detailed entry requirements

Normal Entry

  • Pass SPM/SPMV with minimum credit in 3 subjects and pass one of the Arabic subject or one of the Islamic Studies subject; or
  • Pass O-Level with minimum Grade C in 3 subjects and pass one of the Arabic subject or one of the Islamic Studies subject; or
  • Pass the certificate in Islamic Studies or related field (MQF Level 3) with a minimum CGPA of 2.00; or
  • Pass STPM or equivalent with minimum Grade C (GP 2.00) in 1 subject; AND
  • Pass one of the Arabic subject or one of the Islamic Studies subject at SPM level (or equivalent) or STPM; or
  • Pass STAM (Maqbul level); or
  • Other recognised equivalent qualifications.

APEL Entry

  • Malaysian; and
  • Candidate must be 20 years old and above in the year of the application being made; and
  • Have previous working experience/learning relevant to the field applied; and
  • Pass APEL Assessment for a Diploma (conducted by OUM).
