The BSc (Honours) Biomedical Sciences 2+1 programme offered by NUMed Malaysia and Newcastle UK covers the diverse range of subjects that are relating to medicine. It includes the study of key areas such as biochemistry, genetics, physiology, microbiology, immunology and pharmacology.
A-Levels
Normally 12 points ie BBB at A2 level (A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1) in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics. We do not accept General Studies or Critical Thinking as A2 level entry qualifications.
International Baccalaureate Diploma
Normally a minimum of 30 points including the additional points available for the Theory of Knowledge / Extended Essay. No core subjects should be graded less than grade 5.
STPM
Normally BBB in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
Malaysian Matriculation (MATRICS)
CGPA = 3.50 or better, including the required science subjects of in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
Australian Year 12 (ATAR)
Based on an ATAR score of 90 as reflected in the transcript, including the required science subjects of in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
Foundation programmes
NUMed Foundation Certificate in Biological and Biomedical Science a minimum CGPA for 3.00.
Monash University Foundation Year score of 300 or above, where both Biology and Chemistry must be 80%.
Other foundations should be at least 12 months duration and will be considered on a case-by-case basis, with a minimum CGPA for 3.00.
All India Senior School Certificate
80%, based on average of best four academic subjects, including the required science subjects of in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
Indian School Certificate
Indonesian UNIPREP/UNSW
CGPA of 8 to 8.5 as shown on the transcript, including the required science subjects of in Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
Sri Lanka A-Levels
12 points (3Bs). We take the 3 highest grades offered, and these must include Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics.
UEC (Malaysian independent Chinese secondary schools unified examination)
A maximum score of between 2 and 3 based on the average of the best five subjects, which should include Biology, Chemistry and Physics or Mathematics (A1=1; A2=2; B3=3; B4=4; B5=5; B6=6; C7=7; C8=8). No core subjects should be graded less than B4.
Other qualifications
The following will also be considered depending upon the grade(s) achieved: a polytechnic or university diploma Ontario Grade 12 Applicants offering qualifications other than those listed above should email us to check if their qualifications are acceptable or not.
English requirements
You must be proficient in both spoken and written English. You can demonstrate this through the IELTS test, or equivalent (eg TOEFL, Pearson Test of Academic English).
