The NUMed Malaysia five-year MBBS programme is identical to that of Newcastle’s UK provision. It will provide a general medical education, suitable for all types of doctor and serve as the foundation for later career specialisation.
A-Levels
Normally 15 points at A2 level (A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1). We do not accept General Studies or Critical Thinking as A2 level entry qualifications.
International Baccalaureate Diploma
Normally 37 points including the additional points available for the Theory of Knowledge / Extended Essay.
STPM
Normally 12 points, based upon the total of the best three SGP scores in the required science subjects.
United Examination Certificate (UEC)
Normally a score of 1, based upon the average of the best five subjects, including the required science subjects. Scores are calculated: A1=1; A2=2; B3-3; B4=4; B5=5; B6=6; C7=7; C8=8.
Ontario Grade 12
86%, based on the average of six best Grade 12 subjects, including the required science subjects.
Sri Lanka A-levels
Normally 15 points (A=5; B=4; C=3; D=2; E=1).
All India Senior School Certificate and Indian School Certificate
85%, based on the average of the best four academic subjects, including the required science subjects.
Indonesia UNIPREP/UNSW
CGPA of 9 as shown on transcript, including the required science subjects.
Foundation programmes
NUMed Foundation Certification in Biological and Biomedical Sciences with a minimum CGPA of 3.50. (JPA scholars intending to further their studies in medicine or biomedicine at NUMed must achieve a minimum grade of 3.75 to continue to benefit from JPA funding).
Monash University
Foundation Year score of 340 or above. Additionally, foundation programmes in science of at least 12 months duration
English requirements
An IELTS minimum overall score of 7 (or MUET 4), with no individual band less than 6.5 must be achieved. Your proficiency in English will be judged further at the Medical Student Interview.
Health requirements
You are required to comply with both the minimum health requirements determined by the Malaysian Medical Council and those of the NUMed Malaysia Immunisation and Infection Risk Policy. Immunity against the following is required: Tetanus; Varicella (Chicken Pox); Diphtheria; Measles; Mumps; Rubella; TB.
