Around a hundred private schools (International and foreign schools) have included Chinese in their curriculum; some of them make Chinese a compulsory subject.According to the data of The New York China Press dated January 2016, there are over a hundred million people in 134 countries who learn Chinese as a second language.Speaking Chinese and teaching Chinese are two different things. Non-native speakers of Chinese learn the language in different ways. As such, there is a high demand worldwide for people who can speak and teach the language to non-native speakers of Chinese.The Bachelor of Education (Teaching Chinese as a Second Language, TCSL) is designed to train qualified teachers for this profession. Theory and Practical training are equally emphasized to ensure that students can master the skills required in teaching the language.
