Civil engineers are engaged in the planning, designing, construction and maintenance of bridges, buildings, foundations, dams, sanitary and solid waste disposal systems, highways, airport facilities, transportation systems, waterways, hydroelectric installations, pipelines, coal preparation, loading facilities, and other systems and structures.
