Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) is a premier Malaysian residential college that specialises in providing top quality pre-university education, in preparation for successful entry to the world's best universities and colleges. In the past decade a significant number of our graduates have successfully entered Oxford and Cambridge, and countless others have entered other top universities around the world such as Imperial College, The London School of Economics and University College London. Our high success rate of placing students at these prestigious universities has been the envy of many of our global and regional competitors.
KYUEM is one of select institutions to be granted Cambridge International Fellowship status, giving it access to Cambridge's varied support systems.
We nurture and encourage innovation, with the intention of producing individuals who will learn, adapt and think creatively. We produce high performing all-round students who have the pre-requisites to progress to the world's best universities and colleges.
Our College is to be found in Lembah Beringin – a tranquil location some 70km to the north of Kuala Lumpur, close to the Selangor-Perak state border. It provides an environment suitable for focused study and personal development. We enroll students twice a year:
• Most of our students choose our two-year programme, beginning every July and lasting for four semesters. AS level examinations are taken after the first two semesters, one year, and A2 exams after four semesters, at the end of the course.
• Some of our students opt for an accelerated linear programme lasting for three semesters, with all examinations at the end of the course.
Our curriculum features 11 A level subjects covering Maths, Sciences, Arts and Humanities:
• Mathematics and Further Mathematics.
• Biology, Chemistry, Physics and Marine Science.
• Literature in English, History, Geography, Economics and Accounting.
KYUEM’s latest set of full A level results from 2021 are worthy of mention:
• 92% of grades achieved were A* to B.
• 80% of grades achieved were A* and A.
• 49% of grades achieved were A*.
• 66% of students achieved at least 3A grades.
• 58% of students achieved straight A grades.
• 32% of students achieved at least 3A* grades.
• 29% of students achieved at least 4A grades.

We specialise in A-levels, which are also referred to as A2. Note that students also take AS level examinations in their junior year. Students on the 18-month programme take AS and A2 examinations together. This is our market niche. Most students take 4 subjects at AS and 3 at A2.
Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Economics, History, English Literature, Accounting, Geography (we do not offer this subject for July 2019 intake), Marine Science (all available at AS and A2).
Universities require a minimum of 3 subjects. We start students on 4 and monitor their progress.

As is half of the A2 grade marked as a^, b^, c^, d^, e^ or U, while A2 is the full subject grade marked as A*, A, B, C, D, E and U.
The KYUEM structure requires AS and A2 to be taken together at the same time for 18-month students. If AS examinations are taken in November and A2 in June, students tend to neglect their A2 studies. The “linear programme” run at KYUEM has been very successful. Students on the 24 months course sit for the AS examinations at the end of their first year and the A2 papers at the end of their programme.
Students are monitored by means of regular homework, progress and assessment tests which are given by the teachers on a regular basis. Parents are able to check their child’s progress online.
No. This happens throughout the senior year. Universities might turn down applications if candidates do not meet entry requirements. Applications are made in the first semester of the senior year.
Yes. This will depend on factors such as Oxbridge preparation or remediation.
The University Relations Office will advise students on their selection of course and university, based on their progress at KYUEM.
Yes, but they can’t use hand phones during lessons.
Parents who wish to meet their son’s or daughter’s teachers will need to make an appointment beforehand.
It depends on the university requirements. However, it is important to mention that the personal statement is one of the pieces of evidence which universities will look at. This will include factors such as extracurricular activities.
This can occur for the January intake. We only know after students make their choices. Usually, we require a minimum of six students per class.
Cambridge as an awarding body recommends 18 and 24 months courses.
