Kolej Yayasan UEM (KYUEM) is a premier Malaysian residential college that specialises in providing top quality pre-university education, in preparation for successful entry to the world's best universities and colleges. In the past decade a significant number of our graduates have successfully entered Oxford and Cambridge, and countless others have entered other top universities around the world such as Imperial College, The London School of Economics and University College London. Our high success rate of placing students at these prestigious universities has been the envy of many of our global and regional competitors.
KYUEM is one of select institutions to be granted Cambridge International Fellowship status, giving it access to Cambridge's varied support systems.
We nurture and encourage innovation, with the intention of producing individuals who will learn, adapt and think creatively. We produce high performing all-round students who have the pre-requisites to progress to the world's best universities and colleges.
KYUEM is Malaysia’s premium A-Levels college. Specialising in university preparation via Cambridge International Examinations, KYUEM is the equivalent of a British sixth form college. However, unlike its UK counterpart, KYUEM is a fully residential, co-educational institution.
Situated in a pristine, jungle environment, yet only 70km from Kuala Lumpur, the beautiful 50-acre campus offers everything that a motivated and intelligent young person needs to develop intellectually, socially and independently. We pride ourselves on providing the ideal preparation and training for entry to the world’s top universities.
2019’s results set a new record but were beaten by those of 2020, giving the college much to be proud of. The July 2018 and January 2019 cohorts of KYUEM students have again set another new record of Cambridge A-Level success this year. The following outstanding results bear witness to the students’ achievements in 2020:
The academic results listed above would not be possible if not for KYUEM's dedication to guide and nurture their hard-working students. If you would like to be part of another record-breaking year, apply for the January 2021 intake. Enquire with us and check your eligibility now.

We specialise in A-levels, which are also referred to as A2. Note that students also take AS level examinations in their junior year. Students on the 18-month programme take AS and A2 examinations together. This is our market niche. Most students take 4 subjects at AS and 3 at A2.
Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Chemistry, Biology, Physics, Economics, History, English Literature, Accounting, Geography (we do not offer this subject for July 2019 intake), Marine Science (all available at AS and A2).
Universities require a minimum of 3 subjects. We start students on 4 and monitor their progress.
No, students will be allocated teachers according to standard timetable.
The commitment fee of RM5,000 is a non-refundable fee to book your place upon receipt of offer letter, but will be offset against college fees once enrolment is confirmed.
A deposit of RM8,000 will be paid together with your first instalment on the registration day or earlier. This deposit will be refunded against your last bill before completion of your course.
You’ll ask to choose a mode of fee instalment (quarterly, half-yearly, yearly or lump sum) and an invoice will be issued for how much you need to pay based on the chosen instalment. Please refer to the Payment Schedule sheets inside the Registration Booklet for the 18-month or 24-month programmes. You will also need to pay additional charges such as Examination Fees, University Application Fees and Textbooks charges. These charges will vary for every student.
Information about when you need to pay can be found at the top of your invoice, i.e. 30-day term: we expect to receive the payment within 30 days of issuing your invoice.
The preferred methods of payment are bank transfer, JomPAY or cheque but other payment methods are also accepted. Further information can be found on your invoice.
If you are not able to pay your invoice, you need to contact the Accounts Department before the due date to discuss the situation. A 5% surcharge will be added to bills if they are not paid within two weeks of the due date. We will call or email reminders to parents/guardians regarding the late payments. Failure to pay the fees will lead to temporary suspension of studies and withholding of the student’s examination results and certificates.
Please contact the Accounts Department as soon you become aware of any discrepancies so that they can explain any charges and look into any issues. To contact the Accounts Department please call Zul Ikhwan on 0364601234 ext. 335 or Haslinda on 0364601234 ext. 201, or alternatively e-mail [email protected]
As is half of the A2 grade marked as a^, b^, c^, d^, e^ or U, while A2 is the full subject grade marked as A*, A, B, C, D, E and U.
The KYUEM structure requires AS and A2 to be taken together at the same time for 18-month students. If AS examinations are taken in November and A2 in June, students tend to neglect their A2 studies. The “linear programme” run at KYUEM has been very successful. Students on the 24 months course sit for the AS examinations at the end of their first year and the A2 papers at the end of their programme.
Students are monitored by means of regular homework, progress and assessment tests which are given by the teachers on a regular basis. Parents are able to check their child’s progress online.
No. This happens throughout the senior year. Universities might turn down applications if candidates do not meet entry requirements. Applications are made in the first semester of the senior year.
Yes. This will depend on factors such as Oxbridge preparation or remediation.
The University Relations Office will advise students on their selection of course and university, based on their progress at KYUEM.
Yes, but they can’t use hand phones during lessons.
Parents who wish to meet their son’s or daughter’s teachers will need to make an appointment beforehand.
It depends on the university requirements. However, it is important to mention that the personal statement is one of the pieces of evidence which universities will look at. This will include factors such as extracurricular activities.
This can occur for the January intake. We only know after students make their choices. Usually, we require a minimum of six students per class.
Cambridge as an awarding body recommends 18 and 24 months courses.
The college is an English medium institution and all major universities require proficiency in Mathematics.
