COURSE OVERVIEW

Foundation in Accountancy (FIA) is the Foundation programme leading to the ACCA programme. With the FIA equivalency approved by the MQA, ACCA Malaysia requires all the Approved Learning Providers (ALPs) to offer FIA (in replacement of the current CAT) effective from January 2021.

The previous CAT programme will be replaced by this FIA programme effective from 2021. This programme is designed by ACCA to achieve the following benefits for the students:

1. Lower cost of studying the FIA / ACCA Qualification by at least RM2,900 (cost of two CAT papers).

2. Faster progress through the FIA / ACCA Qualification, with CAT taking between one to one and-a-half year, while FIA is within one year.

3. Expected higher rate of progression from FIA to ACCA, as the FIA papers have higher pass rates compared to the CAT specialist papers.
