When the notion of studying abroad is brought up, the United Kingdom is often deemed as an ideal country to pursue higher education. It’s understandable. The UK hosts numerous top universities in the world. On top of that, there’s a degree of prestige attached to those who study in the UK, and this prestige means additional perks like better job opportunities.
No wonder, over 16,000 Malaysians flocked to the land of posh accents and cold weather to pursue their studies! Studying overseas anywhere can be expensive, which can be a little hard for students to deal with. Which is why financial aid and scholarships would be really helpful!

Yayasan Albukhary Foundation is pleased to offer 10 merit-based scholarships for undergraduate students. This is a competitive scholarship based on academic merit and financial need from the Albukhary Foundation, a charity based in Malaysia with a focus on facilitating access to world-class education. In order to apply for the scholarship, you should have an offer to study for a full-time three-year undergraduate course at the University of Warwick in the Department of Economics, School of Engineering or Warwick Business School.
While the application for 2020 is already closed, keep an eye out for this scholarship in 2021!
The Maybank Group Scholarship Programme by Maybank Malaysia has sent close to 2,000 Malaysian students to the UK! As long as you possess high potential in your academic and extracurricular activities and are currently pursuing your studies in either accounting, finance, management, human resource, law or business, you’re eligible to apply.

Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM) is committed to shaping the best Malaysian talents through its scholarship programme. The scholarship holders will have access to the best learning experiences at top universities in the UK for students in the fields of economics, accounting, finance, actuarial science, mathematics, statistics, data science, law and computer science.
Petronas has awarded education sponsorships to more than 5,000 deserving students pursuing higher education in the UK who dare to push boundaries with their high performance and leadership capabilities. To apply, students must study either applied chemistry, chemical engineering, electrical and electronic engineering, material engineering, mechanical engineering, petroleum engineering or software engineering, among many other fields.
Permodalan Nasional Bhd (PNB) scholarship programmes provide opportunities for students with outstanding academic achievement to pursue tertiary education in public universities, selected private universities, as well as top universities in the UK. The eligible fields are accounting, finance, economy, law and mathematics.
Over the last 30 years, more than 4,440 students have benefited from YSD scholarships. Yayasan Sime Darby (YSD) offers scholarships to deserving Malaysians with excellent academic results and leadership qualities for undergraduate studies in overseas universities. They mostly sponsor those who are currently studying finance, accounting, economics, engineering, actuarial studies or computer science.
Majlis Amanah Rakyat (MARA) is also offering scholarships to students from the MARA Institute of Education (IPMa). IPMa is linked to various higher education institutions such as the German-Malaysian Institute, Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Kolej Universiti Poly-Tech MARA, Kolej Profesional MARA, Kolej Kemahiran Tinggi MARA (KKTM), MARA-Japan Industrial Institute, Institut Kemahiran MARA, GIATMARA and Kolej MARA.
The MARA scholarship is open to students in Kolej MARA Seremban and Kolej MARA Banting who are pursuing either their A-Levels, or the International Baccalaureate programme. With this scholarship, students can pursue their degree abroad.
