Geographics Information System (GIS) is an information technology field of practice that acquires, manages, interprets, integrates displays, analyzes, or otherwise uses data focusing on the geographic, temporal, and spatial context.Application of GIS in Malaysia is increasing especially in the environment management field, urban planning, logging, health application matters and petroleum. GIS allows us to view, understand, question, interpret, and visualize data in many ways that reveal relationships, patterns, and trends in the form of maps, globes, reports, and charts.This course will allow students to answer questions and solve problems by looking at the data in a way that is quickly understood and easily shared. GIS technology can be integrated into any enterprise information system framework.The Diploma in GIS Program aims to produce graduates in the field of geoinformatics to support the needs in handling various geospatial-related developments of the country.
1. Pass SPM/ SPMV with at least three (3) credits including Mathematics; OR 2. Pass 0-level with at least Grade C in three (3) subjects including Mathematics; OR 3. Pass Unified Examination Certificate (UEC) with at least Grade B in three (3) subjects including Mathematic; OR 4. Pass STPM or equivalent with at least Grade C (CGPA 2.00) in one (1) subject AND Pass Mathematic AND English AND Science/ Technical! Vocational Education at SPM level (or equivalent); OR
5. Pass STAM rank “Maqbul” AND Pass Mathematic at SPM level (or equivalent); OR 6. Obtained Certificate (MQF level 3) in the relevan field of Higher Education (PPT) which is recognized by Malaysian Government with 2.00 minimum CGPA; OR 7. Obtained Certificate in Vocational! Technical! Community College Certificate! Sijil Kemahiran (SKM level 3) with one (1) year of working experience in related field OR one (1) semester Bridging Program AND Pass SPM with at least one (1) credit; OR 8. Any equivalent qualification recognize by Malaysian Government.
